A collaborative solution improving safety, efficiency, and storage — proven in the wood industry and ready for more.

Moving long and heavy wood profiles across tight, multi-level storage is a challenge — where efficiency and safety aren’t optional, they’re essential. For companies like EHL Prolist, smarter, safer, and more space-efficient intralogistics is part of the job.

That’s where railbound picking platforms come in. Developed through a long-standing partnership between EHL Prolist, integration expert ProLifting-JJ Gruppen, and lift table manufacturer SIGI Europe – known for its Marco product line – this latest solution combines proven technology with customer-driven refinements. The result is a picking system built for real-world demands — reliable, ergonomic, and designed to last.

Built on Experience, Designed for the Future

EHL Prolist had already been using Marco railbound platforms for years. When one of their older units needed replacing, they saw an opportunity to not just renew, but improve. The refinement of the solution came through direct dialogue between EHL Prolist and SIGI Europe, discussing ergonomics, space constraints, and operational needs.

“We knew the concept worked, but we also knew we could refine it,” explains Christer Martinelle from ProLifting-JJ Gruppen. “We widened walkways, redesigned safety gates, and fine-tuned the ergonomics. It was a true collaboration.”

The new solution features a large rail-mounted Marco M5.8 lift platform equipped with a smaller Marco M22L twin-scissor lift table on top. This allows operators to position the platform at the correct height and then fine-tune the working height for safe, ergonomic handling of long wood profiles.

Safe, Space-Saving, and Scalable

The impact is tangible. By stacking inventory vertically — up to ten levels high — EHL Prolist maximizes storage within the same footprint. The result: significantly more stock on hand, without increasing warehouse size.

“We’re lifting 30 tons of material a day,” says John Glindevi, Technical Buyer at EHL Prolist. “Being able to control the picking height and move safely between shelf levels makes a huge difference — both in efficiency and for our team’s wellbeing.”

With fixed rails guiding the platform’s movement, the risk of collisions, misalignment, or falling goods is virtually eliminated. The platform is stable, precise, and fully enclosed with railings and gates for operator safety.

Engineered for Reliability

Reliability is central to the system’s value. With long operating hours and heavy usage, downtime is not an option. That’s where Marco’s quality and SIGI’s engineering expertise come in.

“These machines run up to 17 hours a day. And they keep running,” continues John. “We define quality as uptime, and that’s what Marco delivers.”

“What I really value is how reliable the solution is,” adds John Glindevi. “We can truly trust it to perform day in and day out — and that’s crucial for our operations.”

A recent upgrade to cable tracks — replacing earlier cable reels — has taken that reliability even further. “It was a great idea from the customer, and we built it into the system,” says Tobias Karlsson, Regional Sales Manager at SIGI Europe. “Now there’s no risk of tangling, wear, or obstruction. It’s safer and more consistent.”

Partnership in Practice

While SIGI supplied the Marco platform with the lifting tables and technical expertise, EHL Prolist handled the installation themselves — a testament to both the system’s modular design and the confidence built through close collaboration.

“We see our role as more than a supplier,” says Karlsson. “This is about partnership. We work closely with our partners like ProLifting-JJ Gruppen, and with customers like EHL, to make sure the solution fits perfectly.”

That model of collaboration is part of SIGI’s evolving strategy — to be closer to partners and empower them to deliver even more value to end customers.

“The cooperation between all parts has been great,” confirms Glindevi. “If someone asks me whether I’d recommend a Marco railbound solution – oh yes, absolutely. I can really recommend lifting solutions from Marco.”

Ready for More

EHL Prolist now operates multiple railbound platforms and continues to explore new ways to optimize their logistics. For others in the wood industry, the case is clear.

“This kind of system isn’t just safer,” says Karlsson. “It’s smarter. And it has the potential to transform how many companies think about their storage space.”

Whether it’s reducing floor space, minimizing physical strain, or increasing throughput, the message is simple: when the right teams come together, the results speak for themselves.
